The mysterious and important Divinity secret that the Decrepit Altar, located on the Nameless Isle east of the Temple of Rhalic has is called Original Sin 2. You’re here to find out what the Decrepit Altar is and how you can solve it.
The Troll guards the cave
A troll guards the Decrepit Altar cave. As you convince him to let your through, you can either start combat or pass a speech test.
You should remember that the Troll blood ability allows him to regenerate thousands of lives per turn, so if you decide to fight him, it is worth noting that he can be killed by you. You can either burst him quickly or use one his weaknesses to disable the regeneration.
How to get over the Decrepit Altar
The Altar might ask for blood. You may be tempted to cast a spell like Blood Rain on it to get it to give you some blood. However, it will soon become apparent that this spell is useless. You will need to equip the Cowlof the True Sight on your character of highest intelligence. The Cowl of the True Sight, which is located behind the altar, will help you dispel the illusionary wall and let you enter the room.
The Altar is not the best place to use the dispel ability if you have trouble with it. The cone must hit the wall to have an effect.
Another way to solve this puzzle is to place the head and hair of Bishop Alexander on The Decrepit Altar. This will ensure that you have not eaten his head, which is something you absolutely should not do. You can still take the head with you after the illusionary wall has disappeared.
The Black Ring Encampment
After you have passed the illusionary wall, you will be entering the Black Ring Encampment. The Sallow Man can be found by walking down the ramp to a larger room. The interaction will now depend on the composition of your party (if Lohse is in your party, combat will immediately be initiated), and also the choices you’ve made previously and your wishes.
- If you have sided against the Black Ring, you can fight the Sallow Man.
- If you are a member of the Black Ring, you can also fight and kill Bishop Alexander.
However, the Sallow Man will reward you for revealing the head of Bishop Alexander to him. You will need to fight the Sallow Man if Alexander was not killed and you have sided with him.
Three Black Ring members will join you if you choose to fight the Sallow Man. The Sallow Man will come back at least twice after you defeat him.
You will find the Sallow Man’s war room if you go deeper into the cave. An ornate chest contains a part of the Swornbreaker and more specifically, the Haft.
Be aware that you will find another Windego inside the cave of the Sallow Man. You will need to kill it. This will not give you any EXP, but it will trigger the quest “Mercy is Power”.
Although the Decrepit Altar’s secret is not required, it is worth considering that the Haft to the Swornbreaker will give you a powerful weapon if the weapon is forgeable. You can also use the weapon in different quests.
There are also other quests that you can complete in the Sallow Man room, as well as an additional encounter with Windego.
