In Black Desert Online (BDO), contribution points (CP) refer to a pool of resources that are available to each player at all times. Interestingly, it is impossible to spend these points, although you can invest them in specific aspects of the game and regain them at a later time. To recover these contribution points, you have to withdraw your investments in the aspects of the game in which you invested them. Some of these are nodes, workshops and equipment funding from NPCs.
If you get tired of investing in an enterprise, you can withdraw your BDO contribution points. People withdraw CP for many reasons ranging from lack of profitability to being outrightly bored with the investment, among others.
To withdraw your contribution points in a venture, click on “Withdraw Contribution” in the Options menu. Consequently, the points will be returned to your contribution points pool.
Since you can invest and withdraw your contribution points anyhow you wish, you should not hesitate to try new ventures. For instance, if you find a particular venture unworthy of your points, simply take them out – points – and try another. In fact, many players experiment with the different operational possibilities of their contribution points
How to Get BDO Contribution Points
To gain BDO contribution points, you have to acquire contribution experience. There are essentially three methods by which you can do this; they are:
- By completing quests
- By conducting alchemy, and
- By looking for contribution points
When you’ve acquired enough contribution experience, you’ll gain a contribution point. At the beginning, you only a minimal amount of contribution experience to you gain contribution points. However, as your contribution points pool increases, you will require more and more contribution experience for your contribution points to increase.
By Completing Quests
Perhaps the easiest way by which you can acquire contribution experience is to accomplish quests. This is because most quests in the game rewards their players with contribution experience. An example is The Black Spirits quests which awards players contribution experience, alongside other benefits, when they successfully complete it. Some of these other benefits are combat experience and inventory slots.
Daily Contribution Experience Quests
When you attain level 20 of BDO, you can start engaging in daily contribution quests. These, as the name suggests, are daily quests which are reset at the end of each day. You should know that these quests are easy to complete and quickly, too. As such, daily contribution experience quests are the fastest means through which you can acquire contribution experience via quest participation.
If you are interested in this option and want to participate in daily quests that will reward you with contribution experience, try Heidel and Calpheon.
Gaining Contribution Experience by Conducting Alchemy and Cooking
When you conduct alchemy or cook certain food, you’d be given some by-products apart from your main recipe. One of by-products can reward you with contribution experience if you can get it to the correct NPC.
To locate this NPC, right-click on the item. Doing this will chart an auto-path you will then have to follow.
Keep in mind that the number of by-products you will be given is independent of what you are preparing.
If you are cooking, one of the easiest things to do and which will get you the required by-product is beer. What’s more? Preparing beer is easy; it has an added benefit which is that it will function as fuel for your workers (if you have any).
If you are conducting alchemy, try producing clear liquid reagents or pure powder reagents. These items are two of the easiest things you can make to get the by-product. However, preparing these reagents depend on the herbs you have in storage.
Finally, work toward reducing the time you spend practicing alchemy and cooking. If you can do this successfully, you will be able to obtain a large amount of contribution points.
Benefits of BDO Contribution Points
As mentioned earlier, BDO contribution points can be used for several things including workshops, investing in nodes, and equipment funding.
Invest in Nodes
Investing in nodes is perhaps the most common thing players use their contribution points for. If you don’t know what nodes are, they are the little circles you will find spread all over your map. And their purpose is to connect worker nodes and trade routes to the cities.
Before you can invest in a particular node, first visit its manager and interact with him. Then, select the “Invest in Nodes” option and proceed with your investment.
If you want to regain your investment, simply open your map, choose the node you have invested in and select the withdraw option.
And if you have an active value pack, you do not have to travel to the node to make an investment. With this item, you can invest as many contribution points as you want in the nodes directly from the map. Doing this comes at a cost, however. And that cost is 10 energy levels.
Invest in Workshops
You can invest your contribution points in workshops where your workers can create equipment, such as weapons and armors. There is also another option, which is to invest these points in houses located in cities. Doing this will give you more space for your storage as well as more lodgings for your workers, among others.
Equipment Funding
Thirdly, BDO contribution points can be used to rent equipment from NPCs.
For example, storage keepers have specific items with which you can access your belongings from the comfort of your home. And you can rent these items using your contribution points.
Also, some NPCs have special items that you need to complete quests, and they are also up for hire with your contribution points.
BDO contribution points are a huge benefit to your BDO gaming activities if you have them. So, if you do not have any yet, start making efforts to obtain some for yourself.
