Your science ship may encounter an anomaly while on a discovery mission through the marvellous galaxy of Stellaris. What’s the deal with this strange fellow? And what are the consequences of each event choice. What happens when you investigate?
The Exile
This is the event text.
The readings are derived from a small research station – which [Your Empire] does not have records of authorizing or establishing – located on the surface [Anomaly planet]. If their research on [Anomaly PLanet] shows, it is staffed with one [Your Species adjective] scientist. He is a talented and diligent one. However, there is a problem regarding their identity. We have not been able to match them with official state records and they refuse to identify themselves, except for the statement that they are “an expile”.
They expressed interest in returning [Your Capital] to serve the [Your Empire] directly. However, the [Science Ship Name] must immediately leave [Anomaly Planet] so that no [Your species adjective] ships can ever return.
Then, you are presented with two options regarding this mysterious exile.
- It’s not possible. You should explore every corner of the outpost.
- Get 24x more physics output per month
- Keep in touch with us about what you discover
- The Exile is welcomed back by the [Your Ruler].
- Your race will create “The Exile”, a scientist. He will be able to earn 500 XP.
The second option is quite obvious. It is quite possible, even though it seems strange, to find an Exile on an unknown world. Unfortunately, there are no repercussions for taking the Exile in or any related follow-up events.
However, the first option is more intriguing. It is likely that you will find nothing.
First Choice Result: Cold, Empty
It is likely that the “Cold and Empty” follow-up screen will be displayed. This is how it looks:
The research post itself is not unusual. It’s a temporary shelter against the elements that allows surface-level planetary research for a short time, before it becomes unsuitable.
Although the outpost is close to the end of its life, the intense cold on the planet has not yet caused any significant damage. Functional, inexpensive equipment was intended to be discarded. The local databanks contain detailed, but ultimately mundane, accounts of the planet and simple experiments that were conducted in harsh environments.
Curiously, the outpost’s foundations are not visible from a closer inspection of the outcropping of mineral outcrops. However, scans taken by the [Science Ship] show that the geological formation, which is a mountain mostly covered in ice, may only be partially hollow. Even more alarming, Science Officer [Your scientist’s name] reports the disappearance of the only occupant of the outpost: the mysterious “exile” who is not to be found.
However, you will still be eligible for the Physics bonus. This could be a false belief as it can easily happen multiple times. However, there’s a 80% chance that this will happen. The other 20% are likely to produce a rarer outcome.
First Choice Result: Below
The research station on [Anomaly planet] is unusual. Although the structure is quite common, it serves a purpose: to provide temporary shelter from the harsh elements. It allows surface-level planetary research for a short time. However, it is located on top of a rock formation that pokes through the ocean of ice.
Crew of the [Science Ship] discovered a complex system of passageways and caves that lead to this mountain. This was accessible from the research outpost.
They found the remains of the original staff in one of the larger cavern halls. The [Your Species Adjective] contingent of researchers was originally sent elsewhere. However, they were apparently diverted to this hostile and uninhabited planet to establish a base.
The self-declared “exile” is not to be found. One of its escape pods has been launched by the [Your Science Ship], transporting the bodies back to [Your Capital em].
The Physics bonus will be available again, but you have additional information to help solve the mysterious Exile mystery.
Is there any follow-up on The Exile?
You can be sure that the decisions you make will not have any negative consequences on your empire. This event is as mysterious and mysterious as it sounds. I’m sorry to spoil you. There is nothing happening after that. Even though he holds a disturbing and bloody secret, the science officer won’t do anything at this stage. If he escapes, you will not be able to find him again.
This event has a very limited effect on stats. It may give you a boost, but it doesn’t have any real depth. There is potential to expand upon this event, but the unmodified Stellaris version has no further information. There is no history, no deeper story, or explanation of the Exile.
You can choose what is most important to you right now, even if you have to face the mysterious Exile. Although a solid (free) science officer is a good choice, I recommend the physics output because it is often more useful to me.
Regardless, these two factors are the most important for your decision.
