Junk may sound like a waste of money, but it is actually incredibly valuable in Fallout 4. You can use junk for many purposes, including mods to guns and armor, settlement building, and some mission requirements.

Junk is an integral component of Fallout 4. It’s crucial that you know where it can be found, what it’s used for, and how it can be removed.

There are three types of junk: settlement junk, weapons and armour junk, and random junk. These three divisions can all be found in the game. They are great ways to find the components you need.

It is important to remember that you can get a variety of perks for scrapping. These perks include reducing the amount of junk you get and giving you rarer components.

Where can I find junk?

While settlements tend to use a lot junk in their building components, there are plenty of scrap materials available. The first thing you should do when building a new settlement, is to go through and remove all items marked yellow. These are items that can’t be moved or reused. They will be scrapped for their parts.

As you play the game, you’ll find that you have a lot of underpowered weapons and armor. Don’t let them sit in unused containers or drop them by accident. Scrap them to unlock some rarer components.

Random junk is probably the most common item in Boston and the surrounding areas. It is not difficult to find it. You don’t have to look far to find it. These components can be used for many purposes.

What is Junk used for?

Junk can be used for many purposes, as we’ve already said. It is made up of parts. You can use the scraps to build or upgrade other things.

There are 31 base components, ranging in acidity to wood, with the most important being adhesive, copper and springs.

You will need to use a lot of wood, metal, or concrete when you build buildings and walls in a settlement. You will need steel to build turrets or other defensive structures. However, you also need circuitry, gears, oil, and other materials.

Mods for your armor and weapons can also be used. You can take a gun you enjoy using to the weapons workshop, but it is not performing well. You can make improvements to your weapon’s damage, range, capacity, and other aspects.

How to Get Rid of Junk

It is easy to scrape junk. It is recommended to do this primarily in a location that is connected with as many settlements and towns as possible. This will maximize the value of your scrap metal.

Scraps will be automatically stored and used for building the settlement or connecting via supply lines.

Open your workshop and find an item that you can scrape from your settlement. It will be highlighted green or yellow depending on whether it is visible. It can only be removed if it is yellow. To do this, you will need to click the “scrap” button. It can be scrapped if it is green. However, it can also stored and moved, which will help you save resources if you intend to use the item in any way.

Drop the armor or weapon you want to scrap near a shop, then open the workshop and take a look at it, and click the “scrap!” button.

Simply walk up to any workshop located in the settlements and click the “transfer” button. This will display your inventory and the inventory of your workshop. Just click the button “store all junk”, and it will be automatically stored in your workshop.

Conclusion

A well-worn saying states, “One man’s trash can be another man’s treasure.” Fallout 4 is a great example of this statement. You should collect junk, look for it, and fight for it. It will help you conquer the wild Commonwealth.
